Meet Dr. Arthur Lian
Dentist by day, exploring Chicago one meal at a time by night.
“I want my patients to know they have someone in their corner. I’ll take the time to listen, show you what I’m seeing, explain what I recommend and why, and make sure you’re comfortable with the plan before we move forward. My goal is simple: do things the right way and help you build a healthy, confident smile that lasts.”
Get to Know Dr. Arthur
Originally from Granville, Ohio, Dr. Arthur enjoys staying active, exploring new places, and trying new food. Outside the office, you’ll often find him running along the lakefront, rock climbing, practicing yoga, or checking out a new restaurant or neighborhood around Chicago. He loves traveling, especially anywhere near the ocean or with a great hiking trail, and is always up for a trip to a national park—or recommendations for a great bowl of ramen. His ideal day off is pretty simple: getting outside or doing something active in the morning, grabbing coffee and a good meal, spending some time along the lakefront, and ending the day with friends.

One value that drives how you treat people, inside and outside the clinic:
Empathy—I believe good care starts with understanding the person in front of you. Everyone comes in with different experiences, concerns, and goals, and taking the time to understand those things allows me to provide better care and build genuine trust.
Conservative or proactive regarding treatment?
Balanced—conservative when possible and proactive when necessary. I believe in preserving healthy tooth structure whenever possible, but I also don’t believe in ignoring a problem until it becomes a bigger one. I want patients to understand what’s happening, what their options are, and what I would recommend so we can make the right decision together. My goal is dentistry that holds up and smiles that last a lifetime.

The Professional Side
Dr. Arthur is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Kenyon College. He grew up around science and medicine—his brother pursued a PhD in biomedical sciences, and his sister became a physician. Dentistry stood out to him because it combines science and medicine with art, engineering, and hands-on work. But what ultimately gives the work meaning is the human side: earning someone’s trust, solving a problem for them, and seeing the difference great care can make in how they feel. He especially enjoys cosmetic and esthetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, oral surgery and extractions, and preventative care, as well as expanding his knowledge and skills in implant dentistry.
His philosophy is to treat every patient the way he would want someone he cares about to be treated. That means being thorough, being honest about what he sees, and recommending treatment because it’s the right thing for the patient—not simply because something can be done.
From the first phone call to the way someone is greeted, how clearly he explains a diagnosis, how smoothly treatment is delivered, and how he follows up afterward, Dr. Arthur believes every interaction should reinforce that the patient is in good hands. He makes treatment as efficient, comfortable, and seamless as possible, while ensuring patients always feel informed and cared for. If a patient feels comfortable sending a friend or family member to him, that’s one of the greatest compliments he can have.
